Have You Ever Gotten a Compliment That Changed Your Day?
Last Monday, I went to the gym. I had many thoughts about the day, the week, and what I needed to do after the workout.
Then right then, out of the blue, my gym mate looked at me, and gave me a sweet compliment.
It was a simple, genuine, and uplifting compliment.
I smiled.
My heart smiled.
My day smiled.
I smiled. My heart smiled. My day smiled.
It made me think about how often we, as women, are quick to criticize ourselves and then each other. How rare it is for us to compliment each other without any reason—just because.
There’s so much power in a heartfelt compliment, without any special reason.
We could all benefit from being more supportive and complimentary towards each other.
Today, I’m writing about the importance of women being there for one another and complimenting each other instead of competing. I’m writing about how women/girls/young ladies naturally participate in friendships that go in cycles. Sometimes, you are BFFs, then there may be distance, and this period may be followed by a renewed closeness. Friendships cycle just as women cycle.
So let’s make a conscious effort to be there for each other, to compliment each other, and to lift each other up
- Complimenting Each Other:
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and it’s easy to forget to take the time to lift each other up. But the truth is, we all need a little bit of encouragement and support from time to time. Fortunately, it doesn’t take much to make a difference. A simple, uplifting compliment can go a long way in making someone’s day brighter. - Being There for Each Other:
We all go through tough periods from time to time, and having someone there to support us can make all the difference. So, let’s make a conscious effort to be there for each other, to lend a listening ear, or to offer a shoulder to cry on when needed. Let’s show that it is human to be kind and supportive towards each other. - Breaking the Cycle of Competition:
It’s easy to get caught up in the cycle of competition: always trying to one-up each other or prove ourselves. But the truth is, we’re all in this together, and we can achieve so much more when we work together instead of against each other. So, let’s break the cycle of competition and instead focus on building each other up.
Let’s show that it is human to be kind and supportive of each other.
Let’s make the world brighter- one compliment at a time!
- Embracing the Cycles of Friendship: Friendships, like all relationships, go through cycles. There are times when we’re inseparable and times when we’re distant. That’s okay because it’s all part of the flow of life. Let’s embrace the cycles of friendship and accept that it’s part of the human condition to go through ups and downs.
- The Power of a Simple Compliment: A simple, uplifting compliment can brighten someone’s day. Let’s make an effort to compliment each other more often, show appreciation with frequency, and value friendships consistently.
