“Shine, Shine, Shine” was one of the songs Rachel Coleman sang on stage about her daughter, Lucy. It was so moving, it made me cry. It was definitely one of the moments which made me understand that the purpose of signing is to change worlds, to change lives, and to add colors to communication.
It was truly a SHINE weekend! Our booth was the most attractive booth, with lines that wrapped around the aisle, and I cannot thank everyone enough for such a successful, enjoyable weekend. Many new families learned about the miracles of signing with their babies and children. So many families came to our booth and told us stories describing how much richer their lives are now that signing is a part of their lives. There were many emotional experiences that were shared and that reinforced that signing really works!
In addition to all the supportive families who came to cheer, explore, and enjoy, I would specifically like to thank….
The wonderful moms who volunteered to work in our booth to tell their SignShine experiences: Jolette Susser; Jewel Zeitlin; Melissa Franklin; Jennifer Wolf; and Natali Guadarramu. And a special Thank You to Kathy Reis, who left her two kids at home and volunteered all day Sunday! Moms, your energy and true passion about signing was unforgettable.

My best friend, Lisa Kaskel, who is always there to support me in SignShine’s every little moment. She advised, edited, visited, ordered, commented, suggested, but most of all, listened and calmed me down in the craziest moments! (…and brought me my favorite ice-cream when I needed it!).
My in-laws, Doris and Mitchell Leit, who are dream in-laws (Yes – dream in-laws! They do exist!). Thank you for being there and supporting me every moment step of the way. You are more than just the best grandparents to my children. I am so blessed to have you in my life.
Thank you to my two kids, Zoë and Dylan, also called ‘love-machines.’ You teach me what love and life is all about. I am sorry to have been so busy the last few weeks. Your true, genuine love is priceless. You make me stronger every day.
Most of all, I want to thank my amazing husband, Dave, who was asking himself during this last crucial month, “Where is my wife?” Thank you for giving me your advice, opinions, and direction. Thank you for carrying, holding, taping, and measuring. Thank you for being daddy, mommy, chef, and chauffeur. But mostly, thank you for believing in me even in the hardest times.
